Located in Erbil, the Hyatt Regency is a prominent hotel that established itself on the city skyline. Conceived as a simple rectangular volume, the hotel tower’s design lies in the treatment of the façade; Irregularity in the openings suggests a playful experimentation of opacity and transparency allowing the volume to contrast with the surrounding desert landscape. The tower is punctured at mid-height forming large open multi-story space that features a lounge, with a direct view overlooking Erbil.
