Beirut Vegetable Market

  • A highly unique building, the Vegetable Souk was designed for the Municipality of Beirut, as an epicenter for vegetable trade. The souks are organized like a mall, allowing consumers exposure to different organic product. Located in the Tayyouneh area facing Horsh Beirut, the design echoes the lush greenery of the Horsh, while using a kinetic curtain wall clad façade, which prints the wind velocity and adds the sustainable approach of the project. In the design, circulation is prioritized to provide easy access for pedestrians, vehicles, and service vehicles. Thought has been given towards making a fluid consumer flow throughout the building to maximize shopping efficiency.
