BEIRUT VEGETABLE MARKET

client:
Municipality of Beirut
location:
Beirut, Lebanon
cost:
$20,000,000
about the project:
A highly unique building, the Vegetable Souk was designed for the Municipality of Beirut as an epicenter for vegetable trade. The souks are organized similar to a mall, allowing consumers exposure to different organic products. Located in the Tayyouneh area facing Horsh Beirut, the structure mimics in its aesthetics the lush greenery of the Horsh that also reflects on the project’s program. In the design, circulation is prioritized to provide easy access for pedestrians, vehicles, and service vehicles. Thought has been given towards making a fluid consumer flow throughout the building to maximize shopping efficiency.
